Food and Drink Galore at Stur’s Big Weekend!
The Exchange Real Ale & Cider Festival kicks off on Friday 3rd June with musical entertainment from local band, The Rents. This annual event offers over 20 locally brewed beers and ciders and features further performances from acoustic musicians throughout Saturday and Sunday (4th & 5th June). The must see headlining act, Boy Le Monti, take to the stage on Saturday night. Don’t miss it!!
So, not only will you find great music and locally sourced beverages, on Saturday 4th June (10am-4pm) the Producers’ Market returns to Sturminster Newton, and, in collaboration with Crafts at The Exchange, around 50 stall holders will provide a fantastic array of Dorset made delights. Local food and drink producers will be tantalising taste buds with their wares along the pedestrianised area of Station Road, whilst, homegrown crafters will be displaying and selling their special unique and exclusive items within The Exchange. Expect to find a variety of local foods including cheeses, cakes, meats, pies, honey, vegetables, chocolate and preserves amongst the open-air stalls. Whilst indoors, be enthralled by the array of beautiful and uniquely created jewelry, art, photography, woodwork, cards, clothing, authors, glass makers, glassware and ceramics to name but a few……
And, finally, to complete this incredibly eventful Big Stur Weekend, the 4th Big Lunch takes place on Sunday 5th June in the Railway Gardens. All the usual games and activities will be there, built and supervised by members of Sturminster Newton Rotary, and, of course, family favourite, Camilla the Cow, courtesy of Dikes of Stalbridge. Face painting, a fire engine, treasure hunt, teas and ice creams, all summed up in the organisers slogan, ‘Bring the kids and a picnic but leave your purse at home’.
