The Yarn Bomb: Exploding in Sturminster Newton
The urban craft phenomenon of Yarn Bombing is making its way to Sturminster Newton on Saturday 27th August where the town will be erupting with fun & colour.
Hansons Fabrics & Crafts are hosting ‘The Yarn Bomb’, the very first event of its kind in Sturminster Newton with sponsorship from 2 of the UK’s leading yarn suppliers; Stylecraft & King Cole. Railings, bollards, benches and more will be turned into colourful works of art as we decorate the town with bright knitting, colourful crochet and fun yarn crafts!
“This is such an exciting idea and has been embraced by everyone I’ve spoken to. The enthusiasm Hansons have shown will no doubt ensure that this will be a truly amazing spectacle of fun and colour in the run up to the Sturminster Newton Carnival and Cheese Festival” says Jacqui Wragg from the SturQuest Community Office.
On Saturday 27th August, Sturminster Newton will be transformed into an urban masterpiece using the globally recognised art of Yarn Bombing, which has taken many larger towns and cities by storm! Volunteers have embraced this softer side of graffiti with open arms and have joined in the wonderful way of adding some zing to this charming town.
“Anyone that is interested in being a part of The Yarn Bomb event is more than welcome to come along and add your own personal touch to the town with anything yarn related! See our website and Facebook page for more information” says Myra Hanson, Owner of Hansons Fabrics & Crafts. So visit Sturminster Newton on Saturday 27th August to see everyone’s creativity and to see Stur’s bold artistic statement.
